Eames Storage Units
The Eames Storage Unit is emblematic of the style and vision used by Charles and Ray Eames in the design of modern home furnishings.
Introduced in 1949 the Eames Desk and Storage Units reveal the "machine aesthetic" and Japanese influences important to the Eameses. Long before "modularity", "high tech" and "modern classic" entered the language, Charles and Ray combined standardized parts in many ways to create practical furniture that suit a variety of uses for the modern home and office.
Eames Storage Units are composed of cases, cabinets, and drawers in five configurations and four sizes. Strong and durable the uprights, cross-supports, and perforated panels are zinc-coated steel; cabinet fronts are dimpled plywood; drawer fronts and shelves are molded plywood; case side and back panels are painted hardboard. Each configuration is offered in two color schemes: natural or multi-colored.
The Eames Storage Unit is from the Herman Miller for the Home collection of authentic modern furniture and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
